Vercel has made Flat Rate CDN generally available for Pro teams, moving a core edge-delivery cost away from pure usage billing and toward a fixed monthly capacity model with spike protection.
The company says the plan covers CDN requests, Fast Data Transfer, Blob Data Transfer and observability events generated by CDN requests. New Pro teams have the model enabled by default, while existing Pro teams can opt in, according to Vercel’s accompanying changelog note.
For site operators, the notable change is not just a new SKU. CDN usage is one of the hosting costs most likely to jump during a viral launch, campaign, scraping event or misconfigured route. Vercel is positioning the package as a way to keep those traffic bursts from becoming surprise overage bills, while still serving traffic on its premium network.
The model also reflects a broader pricing shift among managed web platforms: customers want the operational convenience of global edge hosting, but with bills that are easier to forecast. Flat-rate tiers will not remove the need to understand traffic profiles, but they may make Vercel more attractive for teams that have avoided usage-sensitive CDN pricing for public-facing marketing, commerce or launch-heavy sites.
